This represents the most significant enterprise engagement to date between an AI application business and a major news organization, and it's a watershed moment for the industry.

News Corp is the publisher of The Wall Street Journal, Dow Jones Newswires, and many other news and information publications globally.

News Corp’s deployment of the Symbolic platform has resulted in significant, tangible results. Working together on applying AI to critical editorial processes has slashed production time and cost, in certain cases by as much as 90%, while improving quality. Editorial teams are using Symbolic for research, formatting, fact checking, and adjacent activities such as transcription, with more use cases in the works. Notably, these gains can be channeled back into more and better content. Time spent on set up and production will now go into market coverage, analysis and new products. At its core, Symbolic represents a revenue and growth opportunity for News Corp.

Senior executives, from the CEO down, were closely involved in the relationship and deployment, and they showed great vision and discipline in their approach. News Corp has aggressively defended the value of their intellectual property against unauthorized AI training and expropriation, while also recognizing the opportunity this foundational technology represents. They understood that experimenting with disparate AI tools accomplishes very little. Working together with a vertical application provider such as Symbolic that is fit for purpose and with a defined goal is what unlocks real value.
