Here is a short list of recent notable AI developments that we think professional writers and publishers should be paying attention to:

Reddit Sues Perplexity Reddit sued Perplexity for scraping its site and mining its posts to fine tune its hosted models. TL/DR: Many AI copyright violation lawsuits are currently in flight, but this one has 3 unique aspects: 1) It involves social media posts, not originally created content; 2) Its fine tuning rather than training a foundation model, and 3) its Perplexity, which has made an art form of pushing boundaries (and buttons).

US v China: AI Edition The Center For Security Policy published a report  (https://centerforsecuritypolicy.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Code_and_Country.pdf) that argues that AI is the new frontier of geopolitical tension, and the results of this arms race will largely define the next several decades and have broad social and economic consequences.

Fact Check: Find More Sources

Symbolics' Fact Check is the most comprehensive Audit/Accuracy solution in the market, and is a breakthrough in productivity for high stakes content publication. After running a check, editors now have the ability to find and add additional sources to support or refute any Claim. Once clicking into a Claim, the supported/refuted explanation and associated sources are displayed. "Find More Sources" will search for additional, diverse sources which will be displayed at the top of the cards.

Fact Check: Re-run With Guidance

In addition to adding additional sources, any Fact Check can now be re-run with input from the user. This input might be a particular point of focus, of disagreement with the conclusion, or any particular guidance to the model. Symbolic will take the guidance into consideration, re-run the check, and return new results. "Re-check Claim" will bring up a box where the editor can provide free form guidance to the model.

Fact Check: Add a Claim

Fact Check now includes the ability to add a custom, free form Claim. The top of the right panel panel has "+ New Claim". This allows any new Claim to be added to the Fact Check. The added Claim does not have to be directly related to the article being Fact Checked. Once run, added Claims are displayed at the bottom of the results.
