Transcription 2.0; Fact Check Full Screen Workspace

Happy New Year. We hope you had a good holiday season and are feeling productive and energized for the year ahead. 2025 was an important year for AI, for publishing and for Symbolic. AI related investments in power, datacenters, chips, and model training progressed at a furious pace. But model capabilities lagged, and although there was progress, we are in no danger of AGI any time soon. Publishers took further steps to protect their intellectual property. Many high profile lawsuits and commercial arrangements largely settled the issue of whether content that underpins AI development must be compensated.

At Symbolic, we developed the best vertical application in our industry, acquired world class customers, and further differentiated our business to focus on the specific needs of professional communicators and publishers. In this new year, you can count on us to continue to move fast and to deliver AI applications that have a meaningful impact on our customers revenue and costs. We have an incredible roadmap and are excited to deliver it.

The market we serve enters 2026 engaged but cautious about AI adoption and hesitant to discuss their AI usage publicly, seemingly waiting for a watershed moment. That moment is coming (soon).

Transcription 2.0

Symbolics' transcription feature is heavily used because of its high fidelity and tight integration with the rest of the platform. We are excited now to launch a number of significant improvements. You will notice improved resilience and speed of transcription, as well as support for larger files and new file types. We added transcription as a new homepage action, have improved speaker labeling, and are now supporting videos on major news sites as well as YouTube.

Home Page Action

The Homepage now includes an agent for transcription. Add a media file directly, and the transcription process will run to completion.

Larger File Sizes and New Types; Improved Speed and Resiliency

Symbolic now supports up to 500MB files for transcription, and will support the following additional media file types: mp4, webm, mov, mkv, avi, mpeg, m4v, 3gp, 3g2, flv, wmv, ogv

The transcription API suite has been improved with added redundancy. You should notice a faster loading experience, less fails, and tighter integration of transcribed files with the rest of the platform.

Improved Speaker Labeling

Speaker labeling now provides several additional options. After Symbolic auto labels speakers based on its best information, the user can drop down a menu and re-label some or all of the speakers, or add or remove a speaker. This makes accurate labeling of the transcript easy, fast and seamless.

Support For Major News Sites

Videos on cnbc.com, abcnews.go.com, nbcnews.com, cbsnews.com, foxnews.com, and cnn.com can now be transcribed. Native videos on these sites can be directly ingested as a link, similar to Youtube or other text links. For mixed video/text pages, users can follow these instructions https://symbolic.ai/guides/video-links. These are the first of many more sites that will be supported by Symbolics' transcription capability.

Fact Check: Full Screen Workspace

Initiating a Fact Check will now bring up a new workspace that allows the user to work in a larger full screen space. Actions are the same, but the larger space permits better context of the underlying document, and supported or refuted statements, claims and sources.
