Here is a short list of recent notable AI developments that we think professional writers and publishers should be paying attention to:
Sora Backlash: TL/DR: advanced video tools are meeting resistance from Hollywood, as labor and IP issues come to the forefront.
Deep Research: TL/DR: Deep Research has the potential to impact many knowledge tasks as it improves over time. It can be time consuming and inconsistent, but the capability to reason across a large space is impressive. Symbolic will introduce a similar capability soon as an adjunct to its research experience.
Apple and China: TL/DR: There is a risk that AI platforms will split along the China/West tech fault line, following a path that the internet has been on for the better part of a decade.
And here's what's new in Symbolic:
Advanced AI Actions On Your Document Collections
Symbolic’s enhanced research capabilities now enable users to perform sophisticated AI actions on document collections within their Library. An entire Collection can now be added directly to the research space. Users can then perform quick action shortcuts or engage in a dynamic dialogue of open-ended questions with that Collection This enables advanced search of or in-depth research on large document sets.
This advancement is supported by an innovative approach to handling large document sets. While conventional LLMs often truncate large datasets, potentially omitting essential details, Symbolic ensures that users retain access to all vital information in a corpus of large documents, regardless of context window limitations.

Symbolic's Language Tool
Symbolic's Editor now has an advanced language tool to make line-edit suggestions such a spelling and grammar. This works in the background as text is added to the Editor. Writers can click the button in the top bar menu to toggle the service on and off.

More improvements you'll find in Symbolic
Favicons and Open-Graph. Search results (from recommendations or Library) as well as assets added to Symbolic's research space now include favicons and Open-Graph information for a richer preview experience.
Library Search: Searching your Library just got easier, with the introduction of new match criteria, and the ability to search either title-only or whole documents.
That's it from us this week. We are always working to improve Symbolic and make your experience more efficient and enjoyable. We would love to hear your feedback and any suggestions you may have for future updates. Don't hesitate to reach out to team@symbolic.ai.
