Support For YouTube and Vimeo; WordPress Integration

Building on our previous announcements regarding transcription capability and support for various media file formats, this week we have introduced support for YouTube and Vimeo. In addition, we now have extended our third party integrations to offer a seamless connection between Symbolic and WordPress.

Here's what's new in Symbolic:

Support For YouTube and Vimeo

Symbolic has now expanded its transcription capabilities to include direct support for YouTube and Vimeo. Users can add links to the research space directly from those sites, and the related video content will be automatically transcribed, similar to how media files are currently managed. For each YT or Vimeo asset added, the audio portion will be extracted and loaded onto the Symbolic research card where it can be played back in synch with the transcript, with full video playback functionality coming soon. This new feature allows users to simply add a link, receive the transcript, and automatically generate a single story or multiple stories. It’s an exceptionally efficient method to quickly create high-quality written content from source video.

WordPress Integration; Further API Development

Symbolic now offers seamless integration with WordPress so that content created on Symbolic can be imported to any enterprise WordPress installation. This is delivered through a custom-built WordPress plugin which is available upon request. Once installed, activated, and authorized with your API key (more below), the plugin will guide you step by step to import a completed Symbolic project as a WordPress post. If you have selected a headline in Symbolic, it will be set as the WP post headline, and if you have selected a Symbolic summary, it will be imported as the excerpt in WordPress.

In order to enable this, we've continued the build out of our API. Symbolic now provides endpoints to list your projects and get project details, and a user setting to manage API keys. You can manage those keys in the "Settings" area under the "Personal" tab. Up to date information about our public API endpoints is here.
