Independent artists turn to AI to compete with deep pockets

1010Benja shows Suno can be more than an AI music slop engine | The Verge:  Indie musician 1010Benja used Suno AI's music generation model to bypass high production costs and record his latest critically acclaimed EP. The artist ran an intensive iterative process—feeding vocal and beat stems through the system to refine backings he lacked the budget for. The creative workaround demonstrates how small content creators are leveraging AI as a leveling force against larger competitors.

News Corp targets Brave in new browser scraping war

News generative AI deals revealed: Who is suing, who is signing?:  News Corp filed a lawsuit against privacy-focused browser Brave, accusing the platform of disguising web crawlers to copy and sell journalism to AI competitors. This legal action targets middlemen who repackage and monetize media assets—circumventing the publishers' own direct-licensing programs. Mainstream publishers continue to work to restrict unlicensed high-quality text content.

Reddit threatens search strike over Google AI Overviews

Reddit stock sinks on report it may not renew Google AI content deal | CNBC: Reddit internally discussed shutting off Google's crawler access to its forums for AI training, as Google shifts search toward automated overviews. The potential de-index sent Reddit's stock tumbling 9% as investors panicked over losing their organic search-referral traffic . Publishers are waking up to a harsh reality—that AI/search platforms are actively engineering away the referral clicks that monetize many websites.

Here's What's New In Symbolic:

Setting a Default User Language

At the request of our community, Symbolic now allows a user to set a default non-English language. Go to Account>Personal Settings>Language and set your language preference, which will be applied to all Projects and Presets (Skills) going forward. Symbolic currently supports 12 languages and dialects (and can support others if requested by customers). This goes beyond the simple translation of select documents to native language support for all of the services described below.

Research

Symbolic will recommend articles (based on the project topic) in the default language, and a user search will also be conducted in the default language. The Research grid, at the request of the user, will translate all links and documents (including audio and video files) that are in a language other than the default language.

Chat

The Symbolic chat agent will automatically converse in the default language.

Skills; Writing; Editing Services

Skills that are created from examples will be created in the default language. In the Write space, all generated writing will be in the default language, and spell checking and similar services will all be in the default language.

Fact Checking

Fact Checking a document will be conducted in the default language. Sources in the default language will be preferenced, and the Fact Check algorithim is adjusted to reflect the user language. Trusted sources from Newsguard will continue to be used, but all of the control that a user has in English language (including "Find More Sources") continues to be available in the default language.
