Introducing The Symbolic Mobile App

Yesterday, we introduced the first Symbolic mobile app, available now in the iOS store. (Android to follow).

We have been discussing a mobile experience with customers for some time, and believe that the Symbolic app addresses an urgent market need for fast, secure, AI native file import. The Symbolic app is a companion to, rather than a replica of the desktop experience. It is optimized for uploading materials such as video, audio, files and web pages in a fast, secure manner. You can now create or select content on the move, securely upload that content into the platform, and generate transcripts, summaries, quote extraction and drafts, all in a few clicks. The productivity return is enormous.

As just one example, many publishers and communicators are spending significant sums on discrete transcription solutions. They then link that content to other expensive systems which handle research, and still other systems which handle writing and packaging. Symbolic now provides a straight through process with high function and fidelity at no additional cost. This enables corporate communications professionals (events or speeches), reporters (interviews), or any other content creator to get to a high quality published article with incredible speed and precision.

Symbolic's Mobile App in the IoS Store

You can download the Symbolic app from the iOS store here. After downloading the app, log in with your regular Symbolic user name and password. You will be taken to the Home Page, which has a series of quick actions. From here, you can access your Projects and your Research.

Uploading Video/Audio To Symbolic For Transcription

Symbolic's app makes it easy to create and upload media files. Audio files are created by the "Record Audio" button, and videos through the normal Iphone camera. Once a media file is created, it can be loaded into Symbolic by clicking the Upload Video button, or for an audio file "Import" after its created. You can name uploaded media files and send them directly to a Project, where they will reside within Research, or to the Library, where they are available to the entire platform. Media files will be automatically transcribed locally on the phone for a fast view, with high fidelity transcription once delivered to Symbolic.

Uploading Web Pages or Files to Symbolic

Any web page can be sent directly to Symbolic from your mobile browser with a single click. You can use the Apple "Share" feature directly when on a page, or the "Add Link" button to enter a web address. Files on your phone can be selected through the Upload Asset button and uploaded to Symbolic in exactly the same way. Web pages or files can be named and targeted to a Project or Library just like media files.

Setting the Action Button

The Symbolic logo located on the lower right of the home screen is a quick action button. You can assign any function of the mobile app (such as "Upload Video") to the quick action button by going to your account settings and "Customize Action Button". Once assigned, you are just one click away from your most used function.

Encrypting Files; Security

Content within the Symbolic platform is often highly confidential, and we take a series of steps to ensure that all information, including content created on the app, is private and secure. Symbolic is SOC2 compliant, and has added additional security steps with the launch of the app. As one example, files that are uploaded to Symbolic through the mobile app are encrypted when we receive them, an extra step to enhance privacy.
