Vibe Writing Has Arrived

We started Symbolic with the mission to enable news, publishing, and professional communication in the age of AI. This always included the central role of people who harness the power of AI, exercise their judgement and experience, and create critical content that matters in the world.

This morning we are excited to announce the first true "Vibe Writing" service. If you have used or are aware of AI coding tools, you understand how they have fundamentally changed the way work gets done. The productivity of coding has changed dramatically, but the role of the engineer as the architect and orchestrator has never been stronger. We believe that writing should have an analogous experience, where the judgement and skill and experience of the writer is enhanced while the production time is significantly reduced.

What is Vibe Writing?

Vibe writing is the ability to write a draft manually while calling on the Symbolic agent to assist with any aspect of its production. You can use as much or as little of the AI as you want. This could be for formatting, spellchecking, or word choices, but it also enables you to call on research, find and insert facts, add a paragraph about something from your notes, or rewrite all or any portion of a draft. As an example, in a manually written article about a scientific paper, you can use the Symbolic agent to extract data and include it in a new paragraph, insert links for all references, find supporting facts and summarize them in a conclusion, and format a second draft as a newsletter. This all occurs in a private and secure environment with trusted sources and auditable accuracy.
Using the Agent To Create a Draft

The chat service in the Symbolic Editor can now create a draft simply by asking for it. Chat can apply a format and/or voice, set up sections, and target research. As an example, you can ask the agent to "Create a 3 section newsletter, with section 1 using format xyz and my research about [ *** ], section 2 using format....... If you have a fully formed project with research, the agent can execute a first draft based on your topic and curated research. But you can also use the agent to handle research and drafting in a single step, such as "I know there was an Apple event this week. Find the most important articles about it, and write a first draft of an article that summarizes the main announcements at the event using the News Article Format". The agent will do the research, curate the articles, apply the Format and write the draft in a single chain.

Finding, Extracting, Inserting Or Amending

Vibe writing with Symbolic enables a collaborative back and forth with the agent, using it where needed to facilitate the production of a publication ready draft. The agent can find data, quotes, supporting materials and any facts from your Research, Library, or the web. Those facts can then be inserted into your draft seamlessly. The time savings is enormous, and accuracy is ensured through Fact Check. For example, ask Symbolic to "add a new second paragraph with a table that contains the data about..."

In addition, you can rewrite any portion of your draft by highlighting a portion of the text, and clicking on the rewrite button. The relevant portion will appear in the chat panel and you can then iterate until complete.

Post Draft Editing Services

Following the creation of a draft, chat can request editing services such as starting a Fact Check, applying an editing skill, or similar. Just ask Symbolic to start a service or apply a skill and it will initiate and run it.
